Alec Bart is a NYC-based multi-instrumentalist, musical director, and conductor. Alec is an accomplished accordion player, having held the the original accordion chair for the acclaimed yiddish production of Fiddler on The Roof (“Fiddler afn Dakh”) during its run at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in lower Manhattan. When the show extended and moved uptown to Stage 42 Alec moved on but continued to sub on the production—not only on accordion, but also as conductor and keyboard sub. He also contributed his accordion playing to the cast recording. Other accordion accolades include the premiere of the theater piece “Amid Falling Walls” at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, Gary Fagin’s original opera “Charlotte: Life? or Theatre?” based on the life and work of Charlotte Salomon, as associate conductor/keyboard/accordion for the 2015-2016 national tour of Cabaret, and a sub on the keyboard/accordion/glockenspiel book for the Broadway production of Natasha, Pierre, and The Great Comet of 1812”, as well as multiple years at “The Big Apple Circus.”
Alec’s debut album “Connections” will be available late Summer 2026. Connections is a collection of compositions developed over the last 5 years that reflect on personal relationships. Peter Brendler and Eric Halvorson play bass and drums respectively. Physical records will be available for purchase. “Connections” will also be available on all streaming platforms.
Alec is the keyboard and organ player for the rock band Sir Richard Newton, (@SirRichardNewton), who released their eponymous debut album in November of 2025. Listen to “Sir Richard Newton” anywhere you find streaming music. They perform regularly throughout the NYC area.
Alec holds a Bachelor’s Degree from UNT (B.M. Jazz Piano) and a Master’s Degree from UNLV (M.M. Jazz and Commercial Music Performance).
Alec is a member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 802.
Alec is an avid runner, soccer player and Chelsea fan, a decent cook,, and lives in Astoria, Queens with his wife and their son, Arthur.
